State recognizes Belvedere environmental ed program

Virginia Naturally Schools, the state’s official environmental education school recognition program, has added Belvedere to its list. In 2013, only two other FCPS schools were recognized for their efforts to support environmental conservation and stewardship: Daniels Run ES and Lanier MS. According to the Virginia Naturally website, the program “recognizes the wonderful efforts of many Virginia schools to increase the environmental awareness and stewardship of our youngest citizens.”

Belvedere submitted a lengthy application about its environmental education efforts to date in order to be considered for qualification. This year the school will receive a Virginia Naturally plaque; in future recognitions, the school will receive pennants.
