Log-rolling, millipede-chasing, and hiking, hiking, hiking: All five fifth-grade classes explored Riverbend Park last week in a science field trip that covered flowers, trees, rocks, insects, our watershed, how to protect our water, and a lot of ground. The park sits alongside the Potomac River, but also reaches up into a forest on a ridge. The students were ready for lunch after two hours of vigorous exploration!  Programs were led by the Fairfax Master Naturalists and the Fairfax County Urban Forestry Management Division.
